Nothing but an update...
...seriously
Got you with the dragon, didn’t I? You saw that and you were like, “You son of a bitch, I’m in!”
Well… it’s nothing… clickbait… I make no apologies. You’re welcome.
Okay, let’s see, what’s happened this week?
I finished off my short story for Jamie Ibson’s anthology “Wanted, Dead or Alive”. I decided on the name “Open Ended Contracts” and it’s a paired story with Amy Duboff’s “Running Free”. I haven’t heard an exact release date, but I’m guessing Springtime.
I worked through another couple chapters in Tranquility 3 this week, diving deep into Harlynn Gray’s character and what she deals with being a former member of the Hive. If you’ve read the other two books, then you’ll know she has had a pretty cool arc throughout the trilogy, and we’re really kicking it up a notch with this final book. Without a doubt, she’s my favorite character and I think her story is, by far, the most enjoyable to write.
Progress on Weaponized Fury is steady. At last count, we’re sitting at around 56k words out of 90k-ish. Very, very ish. My guess is, it will end up being around 100k, maybe a bit more. As I’m working through the outline, I’m finding that I needed to add a lot of scenes into the midpoint of the story to make a lot of things in the ending really work, and it’s making the book much better than it would’ve been, but it’s still pushing the manuscript longer and longer.
We’re wrapping up the month of January, and I’m excited to say that I’ve written every single day this month. I’m getting back on the wagon, and my productivity, and my love for the written word is really starting to flourish again. I haven’t written this consistently since the beginning of 2019, and it feels nice to actually see the word counts going up and the progress bar moving on several different projects.
The update this week is short, but I hope you’re having a great weekend, and killing it with consistency.
J.
